Rebecca S. "Becky" Hayes

HAYES---Rebecca S. “Becky,” 66, Windber, entered into Heaven on September 8, 2020. Born November 25, 1953, in Johnstown, daughter of George F. and Shirley “Shelly” (Mason) Shumaker. Preceded in death by beloved father, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Harriet Hayes. Survived by mother, Davidsville; devoted husband of 43 years and high school sweetheart of 50 years, Richard E. Hayes, whom she married on May 21, 1977; loving children, Molly Sauder (Rodney), Harrisburg and Matthew Hayes (Jessica), Summerhill; grandchildren, Macy, Christiana and Roslynn Sauder and Hunter, Jackson, Maddox and Ainsley Hayes. Sister of Mark Shumaker (Susie), Mifflinburg and Caroline Gilles, Hollidaysburg. Also survived by many special nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family along with many dear friends. 1971 graduate of Westmont High School. 1976 graduate of West Liberty University. Becky worked as a medical technologist at Lee Hospital and later as an activities coordinator at Laurel View Village. She was active in her church and Child Evangelism Fellowship. She was also a devoted mother who supported her children and their friends through their athletic, academic and community endeavors. Becky loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Becky enjoyed quilting, walking or biking with her husband, taking family beach trips and all of the fun of working at the family Christmas tree farm. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship Church where Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, with Pastor Jim Gay officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, 3439 Elton Road, Johnstown, PA 15904 or Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, PA 15963.
