Phyllis J. Beidle

Beidle, Phyllis J., 81,of Richland Twp. Went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 28, 2013 at Pennknoll Village, Bedford.  She was born February 22, 1932, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Frank and Julia (Hoffman) Matten.  Phyllis was preceded in death by husband Edmund, Sr.  and sister in law, Shirley Matten. Survived by three children: Christine, wife of Richard Ickes, Osterburg; Joann, wife of Darren Brant, Richland; and Edmund, Jr. “Butch”, married to the former Tricia Zimmerman, Bedford. She was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren: Danielle, Ashley, Edmund III “EJ”, Amanda, Kayla, Lauren, Rachel, Caleb and Noah; and two great grandchildren; Gabriella and Jax.  Sister of David and wife Fay, Johnstown; Francis, Johnstown; Ernestine and husband Tom Law, Ohio; Jeff, Johnstown; and Paula Matten, Johnstown, along with numerous nieces and nephews.  She was a 1950 graduate of Johnstown High School.  Phyllis first retired as head cook from the cafeteria department at Richland School District and then was a Wal-Mart greeter for five years before retiring.  She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.  Phyllis was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who enjoyed spending time with her family, playing rummy, bingo, walking “Scooter and Calena”, and eating ice cream.  There was never a time that she didn’t make her children laugh.  Friends will be received from 2 thru 8 PM on Wednesday, July 31 at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 10 AM to time of service at 11 AM Thursday, Aug. 1, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 425 Luther Rd.
