Pearl L. Sedlemeyer

d. March 9, 2017

Sedlemeyer – Pearl L., 89, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Born on August 20, 1927 in Johnstown, daughter of Vincent and Catherine (Berg) Locher. Preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Vincent “Sonny”, and William, Dorothy Cober, and Katherine McKelvey, and brothers-in-law, Henry Cober, Donald McKelvey, and Joseph Yagodich. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Lawrence L. “Honey” Sedlemeyer; children, Larry V., married to Jayne Huston, Hummelstown, PA, Kathleen A. Sedlemeyer, Richland Township, Mark L., Trafford, PA, and Douglas P, married to the former Denise Granistosky, Stonycreek Township; grandchildren, Angela (Matt) Lusk, Jason (Ashlee) Sedlemeyer, Alexa (J.R.) Livelsberger, Branden and John Sedlemeyer, and Megan and Madison “Maddy” Sedlemeyer; great grandchildren, Owen Lusk, Ella and Maxwell Livelsberger; siblings, Ruth, wife of Ray McGraw and Nancy Yagodich all of Johnstown; sister-in-law, Marilyn Locher, Richland Township and numerous nieces and nephews. Pearl lived her life in loving devotion to her Lord, family and friends. Raised with a self-enabling work ethic, she was a consummate cook/baker and canned much of the harvest each year from the family’s ample vegetable garden.  She was an avid reader, loved to crochet and quilt and actually enjoyed domestic chores, especially ironing!  Pearl loved to both receive and send greeting cards with her notes of cheer and uplift, volunteering to send cards to the shut-ins and ill members of her church.  Pearl was also an aficionado of “Precious Moment” figurines, collecting over 100 of her favorite ones.  Her loving, nurturing and gentle nature touched all who met her. Pearl was a 1945 graduate of Johnstown High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was employed as a bookkeeper for General Motors and Gallikers Dairy, but cherished her role as a homemaker most of all. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. on Monday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Virginia Avenue, with the Pastor Susan L. Mentzer officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1348 Virginia Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15906 in memory of Pearl.
