Powers – Patricia A., 90, of Salix, PA, died peacefully on December 6, 2024. She was born and raised in Titusville, PA, to Cletus and Madeline (Karg) English with her nine brothers and sisters. Her childhood aspiration was to be a mother, which seemed unlikely due to her childhood illnesses and asthma. Her wish was fulfilled, though, after marrying the love of her life, Francis X. Powers, who preceded her in death as well as her fourth son, Thomas, and daughters-in-law, Lynne and Tricia.
They raised their nine children in Johnstown, PA, and she is survived by her other eight children and families, Brian, Jeffrey, Vincent, Cletus, Madeline, Barbara, Jeannine, and Erin. She was also blessed with fifteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Patricia radiated love and humor and she nurtured her family and all she met. Her devotion to the Blessed Mother was her guiding light and she led by example, treating others with love and dignity. She especially attracted friends, young and old, who were drawn to her motherly affections. Many people besides her blood relatives took comfort in calling her “Mom” or “Gramma Pat.” Her passions included caring for family and friends, gardening, and her beloved dog “Shamus.”
Pat was the keystone to family singing during get-togethers because she had the gift of natural harmony. Her love of song came honestly from her dear mother, who played organ at mass and at home. Family traditional songs carried always sweeter when Pat chimed in with the harmonious overlay. It was truly a wonder to behold!
Her strength and never-ending love will be greatly missed by her immediate and extended family and friends. She was a force of nature, and we will ever celebrate the joys she brought us, of which there are many.
At Patricia’s request, there will be no public viewing. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10th, at 11am, at St Michael Catholic Church, in St. Michael, PA, Fr. Jerzy Auguscik. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Michael Catholic Church, 751 Locust St, St Michael, PA 15951, in memory of Patricia. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
