MERRITTS----Patricia Marie (Hillegas), 78, Johnstown, passed away to eternal rest on September 10, 2020, after a long illness. Born December 12, 1941, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Harry and Pauline (Greene) Hillegas. Preceded in death by parents and loving husband of 52 years, James David Merritts. Survived by brother, James Hillegas and wife, Carole, Delaware; sister, Debra (Hillegas) Hansen and husband Bill, Pittsburgh; children, James Merritts and wife, Betty (Ream), Newport News, VA; Kimberly (Merritts) Hughes, wife of Gregory, Ephrata, PA; Amber (Merritts) Sanna, Johnstown; grandchildren, Gregory, David, Bryan, Ashley and Amelia; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Alanna, Evangeline and Violet; brothers-in-law, Donald Shirley Merritts, Johnstown; Jack and Candie Merritts, Windber; sister-in-law, Lois Watt, Florida. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and her loving cat, Thumper, who gave her strength and companionship. She gave and loved unconditionally to her family and friends and considered them her greatest treasure. Patricia attended Richland High School. She retired from Moxham National Bank and H&R Block. Member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Patricia’s hobbies were quilting, stitching and other crafts. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Monday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with Patricia’s grandson, Pastor Bryan Svencer officiating. Interment, Richland Cemetery. The family is asking visitors to please wear masks and practice social distancing. Masks will be provided if you do not have one. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 160 Derby St., Johnstown, PA 15905, in memory of Patricia M. Merritts.
