KOWAL – Patricia G. “Pat,” 91, Conemaugh, went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2024. Born October 25,1932 in Centreville, PA, daughter of the late Paul and Genevieve (Wajda) Picklo. Also preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony Kowal; brother, Paul Picklo; sisters, Elizabeth Bryant, Dolores Wilson and Irene Krishnamoorthy; sons-in-law, Richard Newill and Jack Meyers. Survived by daughters, Veronica “Ronnie” Newill and Patti Meyers; grandsons, Joshua and Jerrod Meyers and several nieces and nephews. Pat was a 1950 graduate of the former Johnstown Catholic High School. She met her husband while working at Glosser Brothers in their Record Department. She enjoyed dancing polkas with her husband, Tony. Pat was a member of the Conemaugh Fire Ladies Auxiliary (where she served as Secretary) and Cambria County Fire Ladies Auxiliary. She also served as the Secretary for Lee Hospital Auxiliary. She was married on October 20, 1951 at St. Casimir Catholic Church. Pat was a former member of Assumption B.V.M. in Conemaugh where she was Secretary of the Ladies Guild and was well known for cooking at fish frys, funerals and festivals. She most recently was a devoted member of Church of the Transfiguration. Pat was also one of the Founding Members of the Polish Heritage Council in Johnstown/Portage. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday April 17, 2024 at Church of the Transfiguration, Very Rev. James F. Crookston officiating. Committal, Assumption Cemetery.
