Norman J. Makin Jr.

Makin – Norman J. Jr., 65, Geistown Borough, went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2014 at Windber Hospice. Born on June 1, 1948 in Johnstown, son of Norman J. Sr. and Elizabeth  (Starke) Makin. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Kline; brother, Kenneth Allen; brother-in-law, Gary Updegraff. He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Mary Jane (McClafferty) Makin; children, Norman J. III, Roxbury, Stacy R. Cleary, FL, and Terri D., wife of  Jarred Hipp, Geistown Borough; step son, James Molnar Jr., Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Danielle, Katie, John, Destiny, Crystal, Amber, Justine, Danica, and Jordan; several great grandchildren; siblings, William, Joanne, (Mark) McCleester, Nellie Updegraff, Nancy Gilchrist, Judy Shrader, Robert (Billie), Randy (Diane), and Eric (Mary) and numerous nieces and nephews. Norm was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was an avid guitar player and music enthusiast. Norm also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, who always had a joke. Norm loved spending time with his entire family, especially his grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Pastor Donald Trotz officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. Private inurnment will be at Richland Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 in memory of Norman.
