Nina L. Debias

Debias – Nina L., 97, Richland, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 12, 1926 in South Fork, PA. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nicholas E. Debias; brother, Carmel (Nancy) Scrofani, and sister, Frances (Hans) Ruddeck.

Survived by loving children, Cindy (Gary) Shawley, Richland; Nick (Renee Kelly) Debias, Richland and Michele Hershberger (Greg Domonkos), Windber; grandchildren, Danie (Dave) Bryce, Carly (Aaron) Thomas, Tiffany Debias, Samantha (Ryan) Leibreich and Erin Debias; great-grandchildren, Isla, Austin, Finley, Rory, Devin, and Luke. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and son-in-law, Rod Hershberger.

Nina was a graduate of South Fork High School. She retired from Richland School District Dietary Department. Nina was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where she was a former Eucharistic Minister and volunteered for various church activities. She was an active member of Solomon Run Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Nina enjoyed polka and line dancing with her late husband, Nick. Her whole life was spent baking and cooking for her family and friends. Nina biggest love was spending time with her entire family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal, St. Joseph’s Mausoleum. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Solomon Run Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in memory of Nina. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers from Memorial Medical Center and Palliative Care who cared for her, and a special thanks to Fr.
