Gelles – Nicholas, 89, East Conemaugh Borough, went to be with the Lord on June 15, 2015 at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Born on December 16, 1925 in East Conemaugh Borough, son of the late John and Mary (Zidik) Gelles. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth L. (Galayda) Gelles; sons, Thomas N., married to the former Lynnette Jaramillo, Bethel Park, PA, John A., married to the former Amanda J. Myers, East Conemaugh Borough, and Matthew P., Largo, FL; grandchildren, Nicholas, Lindsey, Katie, and Marissa; brother, Paul (Marianne) Gelles, Henderson, NV and several nieces and nephews. Nick was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a Business Administration Degree. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Nick retired as a General Foreman from Bethlehem Steel after 42 years of service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, East Conemaugh, where he was a long time Cantor. Nick enjoyed golfing and bowling. At Nick’s request there will be no public viewing or service. Private Inurnment will be held at Grandview Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh. The family suggests contributions be directed to Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, 138 Veterans Boulevard, Duncansville, PA 16635 in memory of Nicholas.
