Russo – Nancy Jean, 77, Johnstown, formerly of Oakland, NJ. went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2024 at Richland Woods. Born on May 13, 1947 in Paterson, NJ, daughter of James Wallace and Ruth Jane (Meredith) Romaine. Preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Michele M. Russo.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Michael L. Russo; son, Michael J. Russo, San Francisco, CA; grandsons, Joon and Saan Russo, both of San Francisco, CA, and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was a 1965 graduate of Ramapo Regional High School, Franklin Lakes, NJ. She later graduated Fairleigh Dickenson University, Teaneck, NJ, and the Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing, Hackensack, NJ. Nancy was employed as a Registered Nurse at both Hackensack Hospital at Hackensack, NJ, and North Hills Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh. She earned her Stephen Ministry Leadership Certificate in St. Louis MO., and volunteered at Stephen Ministry Leader at St. Eleanor Parish in Collegeville, PA. After she retired, she also volunteered at Windber Hospice for several years. Nancy was a member of the Philadelphia Gospel Seminar Choir and St. Benedict Catholic Church. She enjoyed poetry, bird watching, and reading. Nancy donated much of her time helping others. She was always behind the scenes working without expecting any accolades.
Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29th, at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 30th, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Bishop Mark Bartchak, celebrant, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor, Fr. Antony Sudherson, HGN and Fr. Tom Acklin, OSB concelebrating. Also attending, the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown Deacons. Private committal will be at Grandview Cemetery. Nancy suggested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be directed to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave, Windber, PA 15963 in her memory.
