Furman – Nancy P., 72, East Taylor Township, went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2017 at her residence. Born on October 23, 1944 in Johnstown, daughter of Charles and Grace (Yost) Boyer. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul; sister-in-law, Joyce Boyer; and brother-in-law, Fred Karchnak and his infant son, Douglas Karchnak. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Edward E. “Jr.” Furman, East Taylor Township; children, Stacey M., wife of Michael Brinkman, Lancaster, PA, David A., married to the former Beth A. Garman, East Taylor Township, and Ryan E., Mars, PA; grandchildren; Logan and Zoee White, Hunter, Blake, and Drew Furman, and Sophia, Stella, and Archer Furman; siblings, Barbara Killian, Ebensburg, PA, David Boyer, Pittsburgh, PA, and Clifford (Barbara) Boyer, Meadville, PA; sister-in-law, Virginia Lee Karchnak, Bloomfield, MI, and numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy was a 1962 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School and a 1964 graduate of Cambria Rowe Business College. She retired from East Taylor Township after many years of service as the Township Secretary/Treasurer and Supervisor. Nancy was a member of Conemaugh Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed painting ceramics and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Nancy also enjoyed playing Scrabble with her sister, Barb and her sister-in-law, Joyce, as well as who ever wanted to participate. She loved her grandchildren dearly and never missed their sporting events. Nancy’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Dr. Stotler’s, Dr. Stefanick’s, Dr. Stefanik’s, and Dr. Awan’s office, as well as Palliative Care at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, and Conemaugh Hospice for their loving care. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Wednesday at the Conemaugh Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Craig Gaunt officiating. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Conemaugh Church of the Brethren, 1256 William Penn Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15909 in memory of Nancy.
