Kaufman, Morton, 84, of Westmont, lost his battle with cancer on March 5, 2014 sleeping at his wifeâs side and surrounded by his three sons and daughter-in-law. Born April 15, 1929, in Buffalo, NY to Ukrainian Jewish parents, George and Annette (Bender) Kaufman. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Manny and Jerry; and sister-in-law, Marilyn. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Elena (Lavin) Kaufman; sons, Benjamin married to Jill of Denver, CO; Michael and fiancee Janette of Seattle, WA; Jonathan married to Dar of Creswell, OR; granddaughter, Abigail and future grandson, âRoscoeâ. The best decision of his life was to marry his wife, Elena and his greatest accomplishment was raising three sons, of whom he was very proud, and each of whom took their fatherâs stern admonishment to be a mensch. Morton was the long-time proprietor of Mortonâs Shoes, with locations in Johnstown and Somerset. He will be greatly missed. Memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Family and friends will be received at the family home from 2-5 PM Saturday, following the service.
