Merle A. Fetzer

FETZER---Merle A., 91, Johnstown passed away on May 27, 2023 at Arbutus Park Manor Retirement Community. Born June 25, 1931 in Johnstown, son of Merle A. Fetzer Sr. and Florence (Cohick) Fetzer. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 69 years, Shirley A. (Mickle) Fetzer; brothers and sister, Shirley Lee, Richard Fetzer, Gary Fetzer and Lanny Fetzer. Survived by children, Merle Fetzer, husband of Victoria, East Petersburg, PA; Susan Seese, Johnstown; Douglas Fetzer, Denver, CO; Brenda Fetzer, Akron, PA; Donna Fetzer, Ephrata, PA; Linda Keifline, Cumming, GA; and David Fetzer, husband of Cynthia, Johnstown; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Brother of Darwin Fetzer, husband of Terri, Seanor. Also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Merle was self-employed as a general contractor for 40 years. Merle enjoyed many hours spent with his children and grandchildren. He was an Army Sgt. in the former 628 Tank Batallion, 28^th Division. He served in occupied Germany in 1951 and 1952. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and again from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023, with Rev. Adam Dotts officiating. Committal, Richland Cemetery. Military graveside rites by Menoher Post #155 ritual team.
