Rager – Melvin G., “George”, 84, Johnstown. Went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2016 at Windber Hospice. Born on February 6, 1932 in Johnstown, son of the late Curtis and Nellie (Jackson) Rager. Preceded in death by wife, Shirley M. (Stouffer) Rager; brothers, Clerc Kemp, Alfred “Al”, Clyde, Kenneth, and Earnest “Ernie”. He is survived by his loving sons, George D., (Darlene), Geistown; Gary G., married to the former Denise Collins, Geistown; Kemp A. (Anna Mae Rocco), Lancaster, PA; and Dana Mark, married to the former Catherine Mary Mock, Geistown; grandchildren, Tracy, Aimee, Carl, Brandi, Jessie, Jennifer, Kemp Jr., Joseph, Curtis, JoAnna, and Adam; and great grandchildren; sisters, Jessie Rager, Richland and Betty Clemenson, Geistown; and several nieces and nephews. George was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from Bethlehem Steel, where he was employed as a crane operator. George was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed cutting his grass and scratch tickets. George loved telling a story and will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor. Friends will be received from 10 AM to 1 p.m. time of service Saturday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Rev. Denise Ann Todero, officiating. Military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team at funeral home. Private inurnment at Grandview Cemetery.The family suggests contributions be directed to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave. Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Melvin “George” Rager.
