YEAGER – Mary C., 84, Richland, went to be with our Lord on October 4, 2024. Born October 29, 1939 in Johnstown, daughter of Antonio and Catherine (Giorigianni) Grasso. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Bob, and brothers-in-law, John Yeager, and Ronald Hentz.
Survived by beloved daughter, Diane, wife of Matthew Helsel, Richland; beloved granddaughter, BriAnne Rager, Greensburg; sister, Josephine Hentz, Portage, IN; sisters-in-law, Linda Yeager, Richland, Joann (Edward) Kobal, Johnstown, and Barb (Raymond)Yeager, Lexington, OH; cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, special significant other, Ray Peters, Salix and her loving kitty, Luna.
Mary was a 1957 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School, now Bishop McCort Catholic High School. She was also a 1958 graduate of the Lee Hospital School of Practical Nursing. After Mary’s dad passed away, Mary and her husband continued her dad’s shoe repair business for 18 years until her husband’s passing. Mary enjoyed life, enjoyed travelling to different places with her family, Ya Ya, sisters (La Rue, “B,” Helen and Diane) She also enjoy spending time with her significant other Ray and going dancing at the Richland VFW on Sunday Nights. They were friends for over 50 years. Mary had a caring personality and had a love for all animals. Mary volunteered her time helping to make nut rolls for St. Clare of Assisi Church. She enjoyed making and donating rosaries to Our Lady of Grace (St. Benedict Church) group and other places that they were needed. Mary was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and enjoyed working and helping with the annual flea market.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane Richland, where Vigil will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Entombment, Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. Mary would like to suggest memorial contributions be directed to St. Benedict Catholic Church and the Cambria County Humane Society, 743 Galleria Dr., Johnstown, PA 15904 in her memory.
