Mary H. Wachs

Wachs, Mary, H., 87, of Richland Township passed away on Dec. 20, 2011, at Golden Living Center, Richland. She was born on January 4, 1924 in Johnstown. Daughter of John Henry and Helenna (Doerr) Sale. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Charles E. Wachs Sr.; brothers, Clifford H. and Harman; and a sister, Laura Heeter. Survived by loving children, Diana L. wife of Von Shroyer, Charles E. Jr, and Luwana A., wife of Kenneth Jones all of Richland Township; grandchildren, Carrie D. wife of Robert Beebout, Richland Township, Danielle M. Shroyer, Stanley, NC., and Brian A. Jones, Richland Township; great grandchildren, Connor, Jaidyn, Rory and Tierney and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was employed as a mail carrier for the US Post Office during WW II. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Mary enjoyed gardening, crafts, and watching wildlife. She also enjoyed traveling and was able to visit far off destinations such as England, France, Bahamas and Hawaii. She especially loved spending time at her summer cottage with her family and friends. Friends received from 3-7 P.M. Thursday and from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with Pastors Custead, officiating. Entombment will be at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum. The Family suggests that memorial contributions may be directed to Humane Society of Cambria County, 743 Galleria Drive Extension, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Mary.
