Seitz – Mary E., 86, Belmont, went to be with the Lord on September 25, 2018. Born on May 25, 1932 in Toronto, ON, daughter of Ralph Edward and Eleanor (Paterson) Hammett. Preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Jayne Anne; infant son, Paul Bernard; Joseph Lawrence; sister, Carolyn Watt; sisters-in-law, Carole and Eileen Hammett, and a brother-in-law, Vincent DeFrank. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Bernard “Bud” L. Seitz; children, Timothy P., Belmont, Janice M. (Michael) Molchany, Westmont, Robert E. (Coleen) Topeka, KS, B. Paul (Mary) Geistown, and Thomas R. (Claudine), Westmont; grandchildren, Sara (Jason) Eddy, Mickey and Ben Molchany, Carlee, Drew, and Dylan Seitz, Brianne (Zach) Vignero, Adam, Laura, and Meghan Seitz, and Brett Seitz and Chad Michael; great grandsons, Hunter and Hendrix Eddy; brothers, Ted and Paul Hammett and J. Patrick (Janet) Hammett; sister, Theresa DeFrank; brother-in-law, John Watt, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was a 1948 graduate of Ferndale High School. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown, where she was a Eucharistic Minister; and an active member of Compassionate Friends. Mary was employed at GTE for 4 years and later retired from JSTC Federal Credit Union after 13 years of service as a Teller. She had a strong faith in God, and loved their church community at St. Benedict Catholic Church, where she was a volunteer for many years, especially for the chicken and waffle dinners. Mary loved spending time with her beloved family and friends at family gatherings, holidays, Penn State games, and progressive dinners. Anytime there was a get together, friends were always treated like family. She touched many lives and that was evident from the outpouring of love shared with her and the family during her illness. Mary was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to so many. She was at peace leaving us, and will be watching over us all until we meet again. Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 or to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Mary.
