Hemminger, Mary Jane (Barna), 83, of Somerset, formerly of Johnstown, died April 24, 2013, in Sebring, Florida. Born February 7, 1930, in Johnstown, PA, daughter of the late John and Mary Barna. She was preceded in death by husband Bill, brother, John, sisters, Sabina and Kathryn; daughter, Lynn Fiscus and grandson-in-law, Eric Knauss. She was the last surviving member of the John Barna family. Survived by son, David, (Linda) Houston, Texas; daughter, Susan, (John) Tarasenkov, Pittsburgh; son, Darren, (Marcy) Waterford, VA; son-in-law, Charles Fiscus; and stepmother, Ruth Hemminger. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, Tanya Knauss, Sonya (Jason) Fletcher, Pat and Colin Hemminger, Eva Lenz, Grete (Matt) Gridley, Jayne Fiscus, Zachary & Jacob Tarasenkov and Keely Hemminger; many cousins, and a niece and nephew. She was a 1948 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School. Jane was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Geistown, for 40 years. Employed by the Sears Roebuck Co, for over 30 years, first in the Credit Office and then as a decorator until her retirement in 1995. She was a very active woman her entire life and made new friends wherever she went. While raising four children, she managed a part time job, enjoyed competitive tennis, swimming, gardening, oil painting, sculpting, and arts and crafts. She enjoyed traveling, watching the Steelers, being a member of the Red Hat Society, and loved playing cards. Jane thoroughly enjoyed her family and friends and wintering in Florida. A snowbird to the end! Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where vigil will be held in the evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford St., Johnstown, Father David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum.
