Ball, Mary K., 97, Johnstown. Died Jan. 18, 2012, at home. Born Nov. 13, 1914, in Johnstown. Daughter of the late Stephen and Katrina (Emel) Kozie. Also preceded in death by husband of 55 years, M. Francis âMurphâ Ball; son, Francis C. Ball; sisters, Rose Vondrak and Susan Bobosky. Survived by daughter, Carole, wife of Thomas Cottrill, Cincinnati, OH; Grandchildren, Gregory (Allison) Cottrill, Kenneth Ball, Karen (Richard) Caputo, Thomas Ball and Diane Ball; Great grandchildren, Jenna, Alex and Jade Caputo. Daughter-in-law, Jane L. Ball, brother-in-laws Henry and Edmund Ball, best friend, Beverly Waddell and kind caregivers, Donna Whatmore and Connie Mott. Lifelong member of former St. Casimir Catholic Church now Resurrection Parish Mary was the Judge of Elections for two terms in Johnstownâs 20th Ward. Her most memorable vote was her first vote for Franklin Delano Roosevelt. She voted in every presidential election from 1936 to 2008. She held offices at the Catholic Daughters of America #647 and received a 50 year plus recognition for membership. Mary also served as the president of the St. Casimirâs Mothers Club.Friends received from 5 to 7 pm Friday, January 20th at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 21, at Resurrection Parish, Fr. Alan Thomas, Pastor. Committal at Grandview Cemetery.
