Martha J. Schutte

Schutte, Martha J., 88, of Geistown Borough, went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2014 at Laurelwood Care Center. Born on October 6, 1925 in Johnston. Daughter of Richard and Theresa (Kist) Stager. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry A. Schutte; brothers, Robert, William and Donald; grandchildren, John Nathan 1st and Bobby Schutte. She is survived by her loving sons, Robert F., married to the former Donna M. Irwin, Westmont, John P., married to the former JoAnn M. Bovino, Monroeville, PA, Richard J., married to the former Donna K. Abrashoff, Riverside, CA and James H., married to the former Donna K. Kelch, Baden, PA; grandchildren, Christopher (Melissa) Schutte, Jennifer, Jamie and Kristin Schutte, Ryan (Soleil) Schutte, Robyn and Marissa  Schutte; great grandson, John Nathan Schutte 2nd; brother, James V. (Carol) Stager, Westmont; sister-in-law, Pat Falsone, Davidsville, PA; brother-in-law, Leo (Gail) Schutte, Belmont and several nieces and nephews. Martha was a 1943 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. She retired from Gee Bee Department Store, where she was a long term employee. Martha was an Election Official for Geistown Borough for many decades. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Martha enjoyed canning tomatoes, playing pinochle, cooking and will be remembered for her personable and social nature. She loved her entire family, especially her grandchildren and great grandson. Friends will be received from 2-7 P.M. on Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the Deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Bobby Schutte Memorial Fund c/o Bishop McCort High School, 25 Osborne Street, Johnstown, PA 15905 in memory of Martha.
