BROWNLEE, Martha Ellis, 84, Laurel View Village, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Reflections at Laurel View Village. Born on May 7, 1938 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Ernest and Florence (Gerber) Ellis. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, R. Thomas Brownlee; son Robert E. “Reb” and his wife Karen Brownlee; Daughter Susan Brill and her husband Chip all of Johnstown. Grandchildren, Nicole Wyar married to Don Wyar, G. Thomas Brill, Olivia Rose Brill, and step grandson, Andrew Brill, married to Eden; Great grandson Jace Wyar and step great grandson Emmett Brill. Also survived by sister, Brenda Ellis Cameron, married to Wilbert of Cincinnati, Ohio; many nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friend Nancy Gist Cushing of Tampa, Fla. Martha was a 1956 graduate of Johnstown High School and together with Tom, served on the Reunion Committee, having planned several of the class get togethers. Martha worked as a secretary during and after high school for the Hermann and Holtzman Law Firm. She then was a stay- at- home mother for the next twenty years. She went on to work in several positions including the Financial Aid office at UPJ, Southmont Boro, Westmont Presbyterian Church Financial Secretary and the Presbyterian Home of Johnstown. She was a member of the Westmont Presbyterian Church where she served as both an Elder and a Deacon, as well as an active member of the Choir and Women’s Auxiliary. Martha will be remembered for her kind and gentle ways, her beautiful smile, and her quick wit. She loved spending time with her family. The family would like to thank the staff of Reflections for their wonderful care and love given to Martha as well as Windber Hospice for their care given in the recent weeks. Friends will be received from 3-7 pm on Thursday, June 2nd, at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and Friday, June 3rd from 10 am-11am at the Westmont Presbyterian Church, 601 Luzerne St. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 3rd at 11:00am at the Westmont Presbyterian Church, 601 Luzerne St. with Pastor Bernard (Ben) Nti officiating.
