Mark Zdelar

Zdelar- Mark, 89, of Richland, went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2024, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born on May 8, 1935 in Johnstown. Son of Mike and Margaret (Kuruzovich) Zdelar. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet L. Zdelar; and infant twin brother, Michael.

He is survived by his loving children, Denise (Tony Aliquo), Mark (Alison Morgan) and Diane (Mike Bush); grandchildren, Mark Alan (Lauren Voetsch), Christine, Anthony (Jess), Margaret and Miles; great-grandchildren Weylan and Wade; sister Donna (James) Bell. Mark was also the beloved brother-in-law and uncle to his Faith family.

The love and joy of his life, Janet, said of Mark, “still waters run deep.” Mark was known for his solid, calm, and quiet demeanor. When he spoke, it was either to deliver kind words of wisdom or a hilarious zinger that came out of nowhere. Nicknamed Sparky, there was not a problem, mechanical or in life, that Mark could not think through and solve. He was the lighthouse for his family. Mark retired from the steel industry as a programmer after 42 years of service. He and Janet enjoyed their retirement traveling the world and enjoying each other. Together they created a beautiful and memorable life for all who were fortunate enough to know them. To use Mark’s own words, “let’s get this show on the road”, “I did it my way”.

Mark was welcomed into the Richland Woods Assisted Living community in December 2023. He enjoyed daily living (especially breakfast) and activities (especially music and bingo) with his friends and loving care providers. Friends received 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. Gary Tustin officiating. Private burial will be at Richland Cemetery. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com
