Marjorie V. Wolfe

WOLFE---Marjorie V., 98, Johnstown, passed away on March 14, 2025 in Johnstown. I am not about tradition, never have been. This sometimes was looked upon as a fault. Obituaries have never been part of my reading lists. I find that they are very depressing. This is my story. I was born on a beautiful summer day on May 29, 1926, so I was told, a red-headed girl that soon developed freckles. There were only two Johns girls with red hair. I would never have thought I would see 98 years. Daughter of Joseph and Laura Johns, of Johnstown. Sister to six, five girls and just one boy, Edward. The love of Ed’s life, AnnaMae, is still going strong at 100 years old. Sisters Violet Kosic (Charlie), Letha Peterman (Kenneth), Twila Lehman (Raymond) and Alverta Bennett (Donald) are gone now along with most of their children. The baby of the family, Connie (Alvin), resides in Virginia. Times were mostly good and loving, as good as could have been during the Depression. We had our unhappy times like all families, but with this large family, life was entertaining to say the least. There was always something exciting going on. Gatherings grew larger as we all expanded our families. Christmas parties, summer cookouts and boating are lovingly recalled. It’s difficult to see your family grow, then sadly, shrink due to the passing of so many. I lived to see most pass on which leaves you to wonder why, but this choice belongs to God alone. As will all families, members and stories are lovingly remembered. The war called to only two of us. Edward served in the Navy and I in the Army. After discharge from the Army, I was married to William Langham. My son, William E., named after his father, was born, followed by my daughter, Cynde (Denver Wharton), and the youngest, Larry (Linda Antesberger), who also served in the military. Sadly, I lost my son William to cancer in 2012. Since God is the director of our lives, He knows when to call us home. I guess Bill was needed first. You never get over the loss of a child, and part of me passed when Bill did. Grandchildren: Kevin Burnheimer, of Westmont, Rochelle Berteotti (Jerry), of McMurray, PA, Christopher Wharton, of Latrobe (Samantha), Great-grandchildren: Vaughn (Emily), Landrey, Lino and Angelo. I enjoyed my time with all of my family. I will be watching over all of you. Remember this, I don’t want tears, just songs and laughter. Preferably Elvis Presley songs. God needs me now. Although I feel sadness leaving my family behind, I’m eager to be reunited with my family members in heaven. Until we are reunited, remember this: never hang up the phone, or say good-bye or good night without saying “I love you.” Mom, mum mum or Marge. Remember “no tears.” Just play Elvis for me. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with Pastor Brad Griesheimer officiating. Private Inurnment, Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. Online condolences may be posted at www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
