Marjorie R. Singer

Singer, Marjorie R., “Meme”, 76, Ragers Corner, Richland Twp. Passed away Sept. 9, 2012, at home surrounded by her loving family and friends and special care of Windber Hospice.  Born Oct. 30, 1935 in Central City.  Daughter of  the late Leo G. and Arminta M. (Albright) Cober.   Preceded in death by her precious granddaughter Cassandra Singer; Sister Brenda Hropovich; and niece Lisa Franchic.  Survived by husband of 56 years, Paul A. Singer and these children:  Kellee wife of Jack Shirk, Todd married to Shelly (Madey), Scott married to Tammy (Evans), Tina married to Bruce Pritt, and Jon married to Tammy (McConnell).  Also survived by 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. Sister of Nancy Jean married to Alton Berkey, Peggy married to Jay Ankeny, Doug married to Jeanne (Thomas); Sister-in-law of Melvin , Richard, and Thomas Singer as well  as numerous nieces and nephews. 1953 graduate of Johnstown High School.  Formerly employed by Johnstown Bank & Trust.  Member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren where she was a deaconess and was involved in many church activities. Marjorie was a “Mom” to many  children through community, foster care, 4-H and foreign exchange.  She was a great person and a mentor to many.  Friends received from 2-8 pm Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where funeral service will be held at 10 am Thursday.  Rev. Michael Christine and Rev. Jack Heller, officiating.  Interment at Richland Cemetery.  The Singer family wishes to thank our many friends for their support during Marge’s extended illness.  Special thanks to the Windber Hospice Unit including Cassandra, Jan, Jessie, Dorothy and Judi and Marge’s close friend Peggy Lambert.
