Kreitzburg, Marilyn J., 84, of Richland. Died April 2, 2015, at Conemaugh Medical Center. Born June 11, 1930, in Rockford, IL, daughter of the late A.E. âDukeâ and Margaret Louise Buchan (Harvey) Kreitzburg. She attended schools in Illinois, Indiana and Iowa, then studied Liberal Arts at Rockford College for Women, graduating magna cum laude with department honors from Knox College. She earned an M.A. from the University of Virginia. From 1957 to 1959, she was a Fulbright Fellow-at-Large in Southeast Asia, then completed her education with a Cert. Phil. from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. After teaching music, lecturing, writing and performing on radio and television, and free-lancing in New York City, she began a 33-year career in higher education, serving Knox College, then the University of Pittsburgh as faculty librarian with academic rank. Biographical sketches of Marilyn have been published at various times in Marquis Whoâs Who in America, Whoâs Who of American Women and Whoâs Who in American Education. Marilyn was a former member of Prairie Players Civic Theatre in Illinois, as actress and officer on the executive board as well as the Inter-Service Club of Johnstown. She was past President of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Iota Chapter in Pennsylvania, the Womenâs Association of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, the Johnstown chapter of Soroptimist International and the Johnstown Art League. She was elected previously to Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Beta Phi, Pi Sigma Alpha and Sigma Alpha Iota. Marilyn served as a special volunteer for Windber Hospice. She was a member of the Westmont Presbyterian Church. Gifts may be given to Colman University at Rockford College, Rockford, Illinois or to Owen Library at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, PA in memory of Marilyn. Friends received 5 PM to time of service at 7 PM Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Rev. Craig Miller, officiating.
