Marie C. Hill

Hill – Marie C., 93, Geistown Borough, went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2017 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born on September 6, 1923 in Johnstown, daughter of August and Rose Roos. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, William, and brother, Elmer. She is survived by her loving daughter, Cheryl Hill, Johnstown; step sons, Dexter Hill, married to the former Alice Shaffer, Ashville, OH, and Michael Hill, married to the former Jo Ann Dela Cruz, Johnstown; 4 step grandchildren; 9 step great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Louise Roos, Kensington, MD; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Marie was a 1941 graduate of Johnstown High School and was instrumental in organizing the 68th and 69th year class reunions. She was a member of Belmont United Methodist Church. Marie was formerly active in the Rise and Stride Walking Club. While living at Arbutus Park Manor, she enjoyed visiting with other residents, was a social butterfly, and was loved by everyone there. Marie also enjoyed participating in many other activities, especially dressing up in costume for the Halloween parties. She loved life and will be remembered for her outgoing and bubbly personality. Marie’s family would like to thank the staff at Windber Hospital, Wing 3, Windber Hospice, and especially Arbutus Park Manor for their love and compassionate care. At Marie’s request, there will be no public viewing. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Arbutus Park Manor Chapel, with the Rev. John D. Hollis and Rev. Keith A. Dunn officiating. Private inurnment will be at the convenience of the family. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. The family suggests contributions be directed to Arbutus Park Manor, 207 Ottawa Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 or to Belmont United Methodist Church, 107 Coldren Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Marie.
