Margaret McKool

McKool, Margaret, 83, of Geistown. Died March 13, 2022, at Windber Hospice. Born September 9, 1938 in Windber, PA. Preceded in death by daughter Donna (McKool) Boxler, parents John and Mary (Slovensky) Wise, sister Betty (Wise) Roby, brothers Joe Wise and John Wise. Survived by her husband of 61 years John “Jack” McKool, Jr., and children Jeff McKool (Corey) of Hollsopple, Joe McKool (Silka) of Oakdale, and Sue McKool of Conemaugh Township; grandchildren Brianna Boxler, Ben Boxler (Kelli), Kaitlyn Horvath (Dave), Marcus McKool, Jake Livella (Ashley) and Falesha Titus (John); and great grandchildren Bennie, Owen, Kinsley, Arthur, Austin, Jackson, Gianna and Briella. She is also survived by her loving sister Nellie Custis, and a large extended family. Margie was a 1957 graduate of Windber High School. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marge was the unquestioned boss of the household. She was happiest spending time with her family and friends at home and at the family lake house. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing dinners for her family on weekends and holidays, where everyone was welcome. Jack and Marge operated A-1 Vending Company in Windber for many years until finally turning the business over to their son and daughter. Margie was an avid Steelers fan and was known to hurl her foam brick at the TV set after a setback. She could always be found at her husband’s side, whether it was operating the business, working around the house, or fishing, skiing and relaxing at the lake. Friends received 3 to 8 pm Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Funeral service will be held at 1 pm Friday. Fr. David S. Peles, officiating.
