Margaret R. Holmes

Holmes – Margaret Rose, 73, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2023. She was born on May 7, 1950 in Cleveland, OH. Daughter of Joseph and DeLois (DeBose) Hubbard. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sylvester Holmes; brother, Lawrence “Larry” Hubbard, and a sister-in-law, Sharon Hubbard.

She is survived by her loving children, Richard (Celeste) Holmes, Vincent (Jolene) Hubbard, and Marcus Jefferson, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Terrance Hubbard, Josephine (Howard) Gilreath; sister-in-law, Lora Hubbard, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margaret was a1968 graduate of Johnstown High School. She also graduated from Cambria-Rowe Business College specializing in medical coding. Margaret was employed as a foundry worker at US Steel, later at Bestform as a seamstress. After Bestform, she worked at Martin-Baker as a seamstress for fifteen years. She was a member of the Bethel A.M.E Church, where she was a Trustee, Steward, and Treasurer. Margaret enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, bowling but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. The most important decision in Margaret’s life was when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh and from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. on Friday at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 180 New Street, P.O. Box 421, Johnstown, PA 15901, with the Reverend Lloyd King officiating. Interment will be held at Benshoff Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Bethel A.M.E.
