Lucy was a 1952 graduate of Windber High School. She was employed at Windber Hospital as a secretary, a former Avon Lady, and later sold furniture at Wolf Furniture Store. Lucy was a member of Emmanuel Church and was a Deaconess. She enjoyed going to the YMCA, camping in Bedford County, traveling with her family and friends and going to her grandchildren’s activities. Lucy loved making Christmas cookies for her family and friends as well as being a Prayer Warrior. Mom lived a wonderful life and was such a beautiful spirit to walk this world. We were so blessed to not only have a kind and loving Mom, Grandma, Sister and Aunt, but she became everyone’s best friend. She never met a stranger. Her infectious smile drew you in immediately. She lived a life of serving others – always putting others needs before her own. She was the caretaker. meal provider, as well as the entertainer and the Christmas cookie and special birthday and wedding cake maker to so many. She found joy in helping and providing for others. We can find comfort in knowing she is resting in the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Please honor our mom’s gentle spirit by showing your loved ones how much they mean to you while they are still with you here on earth. The family would like to thank the special caregivers at St. Jude’s Haven. Their compassion, support, and love was truly quite evident and appreciated by our Mom and her family. Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. at Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. David A. Streets officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. On line condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
