Louis A. Wise

Wise, Louis A., 88, of Geistown. Died May 19, 2015, at the home of his daughter in Germantown, MD. Born June 8, 1926, in Johnstown. Son of the late Harry G. and Dora E. (Barnhart) Wise. Also preceded in death by his brother, Harold B. Wise. Survived by his wife of 62 1/2 years, Ardelle E. (Speck); daughters, Darlene M. DeFrehn, Germantown, MD; and Luann A, wife of Dr. George T. Andreadis, Chesterfield, VA; grandsons, Sean L. DeFrehn, married to Brittany E. (Parrish), Adamstown, MD; and Brandon R. DeFrehn, married to Lauren A. (McShane), Houston, TX; great grandchildren; Hunter Alexandra, Adalynn Elizabeth, Sydney Victoria, Luke William and Shepherd Louis. A 1944 graduate of Johnstown High School. He was a retired co-owner of former Harry G. Wise & Sons Lumber Co. in Geistown. A devoted Christian and active member of Moxham Lutheran Church, Greater Johnstown Lodge # 538, F & AM, AASR Valley of Altoona, Jaffa Shiners’ and Windber Sportsmen Club. As a community leader, Lou has served as President of PTA, Geistown Planning  Commission and  Home Builders Assoc. He and Ardelle served as a Host Family for the 1983 Series of the World Friendship Baseball. Lou especially enjoyed being outdoors hunting or fishing and always had a one liner or limerick to bring out a smile. Friends received 4 to 8 PM Friday at the Harris Funeral Home. 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Masonic service will be held at 6:30 PM. Funeral service will be held at 10 AM Saturday at Moxham Lutheran Church. Rev. Dr. Robert R. Wagner, officiating. Interment  at Grandview Cemetery.
