Louis Ignatius Valle

Valle – Louis Ignatius, “Chief”, 77, Geistown Borough, went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2017, at LaurelWood Care Center. Born on May 5, 1939, in Johnstown, son of Ignatius and Rose (Delia) Valle. Preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Nancy Marino and Josephine Cassanese. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Louise (Rifilato) Valle; children; Louis A., married to the former Rebecca Yoder, Geistown Borough; and Gina M., wife of Charles Burkhard Jr., Windber; grandchildren, Vincent J. (Sarah) Paczek and Joseph D. Burkhard both of Windber; several nieces, nephews and special grand-dogs, Polly and Spike. Chief was a graduate of Johnstown High School. He was a US Army Veteran. Chief retired as Geistown Borough Chief of Police where he also served as Mayor for many years. After retirement, he was co-owner of RAC Security with his long-time partner and friend, Ronald Carnicella. He also spent many hours as a Police Academy instructor. Chief was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Lou was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who made a positive impact on many lives and was always there for whoever needed him. He was “Pappy” to Vinny and Joey and was their biggest Windber Rambler fan. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor.
