Burns – Lorraine Emilie, “Lorrie”, 87, Geistown, went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2024 at Windber Hospice. Born on March 15, 1937 in Windber, daughter of Ralph D. and Anita C. (Dell’Arciprete) DiGiulio. Preceded in death by her parents; sons, Jimmy and David ; brothers, Jim and Carmine, and nephew, Vince Bahorik. 

 She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, James C. Burns; daughters, Christina L. Burns, wife of Keith Grandy, Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Susan L. Burns, Aurora, IL; daughter-in-law, Tracey (Brown) Burns, Perry Hall, MD; grandson, Collin James Burns, Perry Hall, MD; sisters, Mary Beth DiGiulio, Dolores Hobba, and Margaret Bahorik, affectionately known as the “Olive Oils”; brother, Gary DiGiulio; sisters-in-law, Tudie DiGiulio, Linda DiGiulio, and Mary Burns, and nieces and nephews, Carmine, Jeanne, Michael, Chrissy Marie, Deanne, Jacki, Tracie, and Justin. 

 Lorrie was a 1955 graduate of Windber High School. She was co-owner and floral designer at the former Niessner’s Flower Shop. Lorrie was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown; former member of the Windber Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; and desk volunteer at Windber Center for Life. She enjoyed reading and scratching lottery tickets, and the Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Penguins. Lorrie was a beloved member of the Walters Avenue “family”, forging life-long friendships that span multiple generations. She treasured Thursday morning coffee club, Ralph Sinoply Memorial Picnics, Canasta Club, and other get togethers too numerous to mention.

Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday at St. Bendict Catholic Church, Fr. David S, Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery, Windber. The family suggests contributions be directed to either the National Brain Tumor Society, 55 Chapel Street, Suite 006, Newton, MA 02458 in memory of David Burns or to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Lorrie.
