Reitz, Lester L., “Dude”, 87, of Geistown Borough, passed away on May 18, 2016 at the Church of the Brethren Home. Born on December 16, 1928 in Johnstown. Son of Lester C. and Mary J. (Short) Reitz. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, William, and James and sisters, Jane Reitz, Ethel Reitz, Lois Jones, and Rosemary Mainhart-Reitz. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret A. (Fox) Reitz; children, Susan wife of Jeff Patterson, Omaha, NE, William married to the former Ilene Harnish, Tampa, FL and David, Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Sarah wife of Dan Ashmore, Joel, Ashley, Michael and Melissa Patterson and Katherine Reitz; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Don married to the former Alice Forbes, Spring Hill, FL and several nieces and nephews. Lester was a 1948 graduate of Richland High School. He retired in 1989 from Conemaugh-Blacklick Rail Road where he was employed as a car repairman. Lester was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and its choir for 15 years. He was also a member of the Johnstown Retired Men’s Chorus. Lester was a hockey player for 15 years at the War Memorial and enjoyed watching all sports especially Notre Dame football and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He and his wife, Margaret along with their family enjoyed going to Camp Sunshine every week during the summers. Lester was a devoted and loving husband and father. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral mass will be held at noon on Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at St. John Cemetery, Geistown.
