Boyer – Leroy H., “Lee”, 92, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2015 at the Church of the Brethren Home, Windber. Born on August 1, 1923 in Accident, MD, son of Albert and Lota (Hostetler) Boyer. Preceded in death by his parents; sons, Doug and Brad; sister, Dorothy Kauffman; brothers, Lawrence, Orville, and A.J. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Helen R. (Mowery) Boyer, Richland Township; children, Dennis, Orlando, FL., Sandy, wife of John Wonderly, Nampa, ID, and Craig, married to the former Denise Keytack, Johnstown; grandchildren, Bridgette, Brody, Jen, Michael, Julie, Brad Jr., Korey, Kylie, and Karlynn; 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Arthur (Vivian), Vinco, PA and David (Nova), McConnellsburg, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Leroy was a graduate of University of Pittsburgh, where earned a B.A. Degree in Business. He was a navigator in the US Army Air Corp. (Pathfinder) serving during WWII. Leroy was employed as a salesman at Wrigley Company, and later at Swank Refractories as Vice President of Sales. He then went to work and retired from Evan Jones Coal Mines. Leroy was a long time member of the 2nd Brethren Church, Moxham, where he served as a Deacon and Moderator. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, Steeler and Pitt Football, and attending church functions. Leroy loved the Lord and his family. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. Benjamin Zylka officiating. Entombment will be at Richland Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to the 2nd Brethren Church, 177 Bond St, Johnstown, PA 15902 in memory of Leroy. On line condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
