Leon Charles Kaminsky

Kaminsky – Leon C. “Chuck”, 68, East Taylor Township, went to be with our Lord on April 14, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 20, 1949 in Johnstown, son of the late Leo and Amelia (Tomasevich) Kaminsky. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Christine G. (Yanko) Kaminsky; children, Heather C., wife of Robert W. Hammond, Mars, PA, and Chad M., married to the former Beth R. Anderson, East Taylor Township; grandchildren, Sydney A. and Brooks M. Kaminsky; mother-in-law, Gail Yanko, Johnstown; sisters-in-law, Kathleen, wife of Sam Howard, New Florence and Darlene, wife of Chuck Salay, Davidsville, PA; brother-in-law, John Yanko, Johnstown and several nieces and nephews. Chuck was a 1967 graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School. He was a Sergeant serving in the US Airforce during the Vietnam War. Chuck retired from FCI Loretto Prison after 20 years of service as a Correctional Officer. He was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration; Menoher Post #155 V.F.W.; Conemaugh-Franklin American Legion Post #633; and life member of the Conemaugh Firemen’s Club. Chuck enjoyed fishing, golfing, and playing cards with his family. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and will be missed greatly. His family would like to thank everyone at Heritage Hospice, especially Liza. At Chuck’s request, there will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church of the Transfiguration, Fr. Robert C. Hall, Pastor. Committal will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Church of the Transfiguration, 335 Second Street, Conemaugh, PA 15909 in memory of Chuck.
