Lawrence L. Lear

Lear, Lawrence L. Jr., 92, of Richland Township, died August 16, 2016 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born April 11, 1925 in Johnstown, son of the late Lawrence L. Lear, Sr. and Margaret E. (Phillips) Lear. Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Eleanore J. (Zalewski) Lear, who passed on March 24, 2004. Also preceded in death by brothers William, Raymond and Donald. Survived by son Greg, married to Liz (Lux) Lear, Winter Springs, FL, and daughter, Becky, Johnstown; granddaughters Leslie (Lear) Santiago and husband Joe, Apopka, FL and Lauren Lear, Sherman Oaks, CA; great-grandsons, Manny and Marco Santiago. Brother of Evelyn Rager, Rose Marie Bonk, and Phyllis Vranich, all of Johnstown. Larry served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a fourth degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where he led the Eucharistic Minister program for many years and was active in many church activities. The family would like to thank Judy Eppley, Larry's caregiver, and the staff of Arbutus Park Manor and Windber Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of Larry. Friends will be received on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Benedict Catholic Church on Friday, 10:00 AM Rev. David S. Peles, pastor, officiating. Committal, Grandview Mausoleum.
