Lawrence S. Galayda

Galayda – Lawrence S., “Larry”, 62, of East Conemaugh, went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 10, 1955, in Johnstown. Son of the late Steve and Florence A. (Niepokuj) Galayda. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Stephen A., “Sonny”. Survived. Brother of Stephanie, wife of Frank Biss, East Taylor Township, and Philip, married to Michelle (Miller), East Conemaugh; nephews, James and Stephen, Galayda Jr., both of East Conemaugh; nieces, Anna M. Galayda, East Conemaugh, Jennifer Galayda, Kansas, and Julia, wife of Joshua Fulmer, Connecticut; grandnephew, Chase Fulmer, Connecticut; grandniece, Evelyn Fulmer. Connecticut; sister-in-law, Carol J. (Kudel) Galayda, East Conemaugh, and his two buddies, Bugsy and Cappy. Larry was a 1973 graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School. He retired from Johnstown America Corporation, formerly Bethlehem Steel, where he was employed as a Mill Wright. Larry was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church. He enjoyed steel head fishing with his brother Philip and his friend Buck. Larry also enjoyed electronics, riding his motorcycle, and will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his caring and giving nature. Friends and family will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, East Conemaugh, Rev. Dr. Robert F. Oravetz. Parastas will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Private Committal will be held at the convenience of the family.
