Stevens, LaVerne E., 92, Amber Hills, formerly of Vinco. Died Dec. 16, 2018, at Amber Hills. Born Oct. 12, 1926, in Johnstown. Daughter of the late Herbert and Bertha (Eash) Volk. Also preceded in death by son-in-law, Thomas Frederick; and a brother John Volk. Survived by husband of 72 years, William “Bill” Stevens, whom she married August 8, 1946; daughter Karen Frederick Combis, (Paul) of Vinco; grandsons, William “Bill” (Tara) Frederick of Chesapeake, VA, Bryan (Krystyne) Frederick of Brunswick, ME; great grandsons, Ryan (Naome) Frederick, US Army, FT Campbell, KY, Bradley Frederick of Virginia Beach, VA; and sister, Gertrude Hoffman of Bedford. Member of Vinco Brethren Church where she taught Sunday School for more than 50 years and served as a Deaconess. Friends received 4-7 PM Thursday and 10 to time of Service at 11 am Friday at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh. Pastor Zac Yonko, officiating. Interment at Richland Cemetery. Family suggests donations to Vinco Brethren Church in memory of LaVerne E. Stevens.
