LaVerne Mislanovich

Mislanovich – LaVerne, 85, of Stonycreek Township, passed away on August 23, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Born on May 17, 1931 in Clairton, PA. Daughter of Daniel and Mary (Blasko) Semack. Preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Agnes Semack and Rose Mary Ponist. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, George Mislanovich Sr., Stonycreek Township; children, George Jr., Kansas, Judy Mislanovich, Johnstown, and David and his wife, Karen, Pittsburgh, PA; granddaughters, Alison, Pittsburgh, PA and Kelsey, Philadelphia, PA and several nieces and nephews. LaVerne was a 1949 graduate of Clairton High School and went to business school in Pittsburgh. She was employed at General Motors, Fisher Body Division in Dravosburg, PA. After moving to Johnstown she was employed at what was then Mercy Hospital. LaVerne was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She enjoyed many hobbies including, BINGO, casino gambling, and shopping with her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor.  Committal will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Geistown. Her family suggests contributions be directed to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of LaVerne.
