Busony- Laura Marie, Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the age of 29. She was born on October 13, 1986 and raised in Geistown, Laura is the beloved daughter of James A. and Susan M. (Terchanyn) Busony. Laura is a 2005 graduate of Bishop McCort High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Point Park University Conservatory of Performing Arts (COPA). She lived in Brooklyn, New York where she owned a successful jewelry based art brand, LAB by Laura Busony. Laura's independently designed and produced jewelry was featured in Vogue, Elle, People StyleWatch, Marie Claire and Lucky Magazines. Her pieces were also sold at Henri Bendel, Urban Outfitters, and Free People. Laura was fearless since birth, navigating biological obstacles with poise, strength, and endless determination. What would seem like burdensome medical conditions to many were rarely a topic for discussion in Laura’s everyday life. She was fierce. She was passionate. She possessed unparalleled dedication to her craft and was a friend, sister, daughter, mentor, leader, and inspiration to countless people across the world. She was a person that anyone who knew her - wanted to be more like. Her creativity shown through in every aspect of life. A successful jewelry designer and business owner in NYC, she collaborated and created endlessly through newly crafted jewelry, artwork, and writing. But her creative impact didn’t stop there. She was a beautiful actress, singer, comic and dancer in many facets of life from the formal stage to interactions with friends and family where she would instantly and flawlessly be the inescapable force in any room. Without saying a word, she reminded us that the human spirit is powerful and that life is an amazing journey not to be taken for granted. Laura is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Alexander Busony and her maternal grandparents, Harry and Gunhild (Hansen) Terchanyn. In addition to her parents, Laura is survived by her paternal grandmother, Ann Busony; uncle, Joseph Busony; aunt and uncle Frances (Terchanyn) and John Mattre; cherished partner, Harry Bainbridge; life-long best friend, Amy (Wargo) Puhl; best friends and soul mates, Caitlin Franz, Missy Jarzenske, and Kate Santichen; special friends and employees, Colleen Schreiber and Heather David; close business friend, Dana Bodourov and many other dear and loving friends. Friends will be received from 2-7 p.m. on Monday, April 4th, at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Afterwards, everyone is invited to remain for The Celebration of Laura’s Life, led by Rev. Nancy Kanik. Friends will also be received from 11 a.m. until time of Parastas at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, with Fr. Alex Wroblicky, from St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Committal will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Laura's family and friends encourage anyone wishing to honor her memory to donate to the Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation to support future research on this rare disease.
