Konchan, Kim W., 55, of Adams Township, passed away on October 31, 2011 at Windber Hospice after a courageous 4 ½ year battle with cancer. He was born on December 17, 1955 in Johnstown, son of Edward W. and Lois M. (Adams) Konchan, Richland Township. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Konchan and maternal grandparents, Paul and Olive Adams. In addition to his parents he is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kathy L. (Wingard) Konchan, Adams Township; daughters, Dani L. wife of Alvin Slaughter, Davie, FL and Amanda L. Konchan, Adams Township; granddaughters, Lia M. Konchan, and Kira A. Slaughter; brothers, Charles E. âChuckâ married to the former Carol Freidhoff, and Mark A. Konchan, all of Richland and Kenneth L. married to the former Judy Buchkovich, Windber; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Kim was a 1974 graduate of Johnstown Vo-Tech. He was employed as a carpenter with the Local #1419 Carpenterâs Union. Kim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He not only enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family at their hunting camp, but also sitting around a camp fire and eating hot sausage. Kim loved spending time with his entire family, especially his granddaughters. Friends will be received from 3-7 P.M. on Thursday and from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. David McGee officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Kim.
