Kathryn L. Rose

Rose, Kathryn L. “Kay”, 86, of Richland Twp. Died Mar. 13, 2016, at Windber Medical Center.  Born September 7, 1929 in Somerset, daughter of Fred J. and Evelyn (Sevits) Watkins.  Preceded in death by parents, grandsons, Andrew Hahn Drenner and Vladimir Schafer.  Survived by husband, Maurice, whom she married November 17, 1951 at St. Michael Lutheran Church, Berlin, PA, daughters; Pamela B. wife of Donald D. Drenner, Manheim, PA and Melissa K. wife of Daniel E. Schafer, Nashville, TN; grandson, Nathaniel D. Drenner, Levittown, PA; and Jacob A. Schafer, Houston, TX.  Kay was a 1947 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School and a 1950 graduate of Windber Hospital School of Nursing.  Retired from Windber Medical Center as a Critical Care Nurse.  After retiring, she served as an APPRISE Master Counselor with Area Agency of Aging of Somerset County for 17 years.  Member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Windber.  Also was a long time member of Lutheran Women Bowling League. She enjoyed quilting wall hangings, knitting, cooking and baking to share with others. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, March 16, at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 10 AM to time of service at 11 AM Thursday, March 17, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Pastor Ruth Kocha Jensen, officiating. Interment at St. Thomas Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hooversville, PA. Family suggests donations to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund, 514 Shady Lane, Windber PA 15963 in memory of Kathryn.
