Kathleen M. Updyke

UPDYKE[mdash] Kathleen M., 64, Oakland, went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2019, at home. Born on November 13, 1955 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Al and Mary (Petrilla) Baranik. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tessa L. Updyke. She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Thomas C. Updyke, Oakland; children, Denice M. (Tom) McMillen, Johnstown, Matthew D. (Monica) Updyke, Johnstown, and Jonathan T. Updyke (Jodi), Ridgway, PA; grandchildren, Hali Smith (Josh Buchanan), Katie Ferguson, Tyler, Mattie, and Eli Updyke; great granddaughters, Ella and Kenleigh; sister, Carol A. (Keith) Stahl, Davidsville and nephews, Zachary (Megan), Joshua (Shannon), and Aaron (Mary) Stahl, 9 great nieces and nephews and family friends, Jackie Ferguson, Lidia and Anna Duffield. Kathy was a 1973 graduate of Johnstown High School. She was employed at Bethlehem Steel and later retired from Johnstown Wire Technologies after 33 years of service as a Human Resource Coordinator. Kathy enjoyed collecting teddy bears, but mostly loved camping at Friendship Village with her husband, Tom and many friends. Member of Oakland Volunteer Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday and from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. William Peringer officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Oakland Volunteer Fire Company, 1741 Bedford St, Johnstown, PA 15902 in memory of Kathy.
