Kathleen M. Hopkins

Hopkins-Carey, Kathleen (Marshall), “Kaye”, 87, of Indian Lake Borough, formerly of Richland Township. Went to be with the Lord on Oct. 15, 2015 at Windber Hospice. She was born on December 15, 1927 in Johnstown. Daughter of Francis X. and Agnes (Noel) Marshall. Preceded in death by her parents; first husband, William Leo Carey; and 2nd husband, Henry H. Hopkins; siblings, Frances X. Jr., Elizabeth J. Coons, and Patricia Luttrell. She is survived by her loving sons, Richard M. Carey and William Jeffrey Carey both of Indian Lake Borough; and Robert S. Carey , married to the former Jewell Sargent, Chester Springs, PA; step children, Mark (Cathy); and Kim Hopkins all of Phoenixville, PA; grandchildren, Caitlin, Mindy, Rosalin, Noah, and Madalyn; sisters, Virginia, wife of John P. Buser, Maureen Vogel, and Agnes Kulak; brother, David Marshall; and several nieces and nephews. Kaye was a graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. She began working at the age of 18 as an operator at GTE and retired after 37 years of service as a Frame Maintainer. Kaye was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. She was a breast cancer survivor and a volunteer for The Reach for Recovery Program for the American Cancer Society. Kaye enjoyed oil painting and living at Indian Lake, but especially loved spending time with her entire family.Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to The American Cancer Society, 1004 North Juniata Street, Holidaysburg, PA 16648 in memory of Kaye.
