Swick, Katherine C., âKayeâ, 86, of Johnstown, where she lived for 26 years, formerly of Cleveland, OH, formerly of Mine 37, Windber, went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2012 at Laurelwood Care Center. She was born on July 3, 1925 in Central City, PA. Daughter of Peter and Mary (Bartok) Kish. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Mike Swick Sr.; brothers, John and Peter; sisters, Ilona Kish, Anna Kish, Mary Toth, Betty Tinkle, Priscilla Spina and Rose Groth. She is survived by loving son, Michael M., Jr., married to the former Julie Coburn, Acworth, Georgia; sister, Emma Kish Toth, Johnstown and numerous nieces and nephews. Kaye was a 1943 graduate of Richland High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the former Berwind-White Coal Company's main company store in Windber, PA - the Eureka Department Store. Kaye was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. Kaye was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to cook, entertain, and dance the polka. She was an avid gardener. She was rarely seen without her pocketbook, lipstick, and compact! Friends will be received from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. on Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. John Toth officiating. Interment will be at St. Johns Cantius Cemetery, Windber. The family suggests contributions be directed to a charity of oneâs choice in memory of Katherine.
