Mowery â Joseph R., 91, Cover Hill, formerly of East Conemaugh, went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2014 at The Villa Personal Care of Johnstown. Born on February 24, 1923 in Johnstown, son of John and Alice (Chase) Mowery. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Mowery, Dorothy Canary, Ethel Mowery, Sarah Reese and brother, Jack Mowery. He is survived by his loving brother, Jay Mowery, Pittsburgh and several nephews and nieces, including special niece, Patty, wife of Jeff âShutzâ Helsel, Cover Hill. Joe was a US Navy Veteran serving during WW II. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 34 years of service. Joe was a member of the Conemaugh-Franklin American Legion Post #633 for 65 years. He was also a member of the Sgt. Michael Strank Post #5107 V.F.W.; Fraternal Order of Eagles #1811, and past member of the Conemaugh Volunteer Fire Company. Joe was very proud of his service to our country and enjoyed his work with the American Legion and the V.F.W. He was kind and generous man who loved life and spending time with his family and friends. Friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev. Cleo Carr officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
