Yasika, John M, âGusâ, 74, of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on May 31, 1938 in Johnstown. Son of John and Anna (Galayda) Yasika. Preceded in death by his parents; son, John Todd Yasika and a brother, Mark Yasika. He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 23 years, Trina M. (Blackner) Yasika, Johnstown; children, Amanda J., wife of John Gelles, East Conemaugh Borough, Michele, wife of Keith Starner, Mechanicsburg, PA and Troy Yasika, Harrisburg, PA; grandchildren, Kenny Jr. and Brooke Lavely, Leah Starner, and Jacob Yasika; great grandchildren, Kalob and Olivia; sister, Judy, wife of Metro Rygel, South Fork, PA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including special family friend, Kenny Lavely Sr. Gus attended Franklin High School. He was a US Navy Veteran serving on the USS Waller DDE-466. Gus attended St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church. He was a member of Richland American Legion Post # 0849, UMWA and PSEA Local Unions. Gus retired from Bethlehem Mines after 22 years of service as a coal miner. He enjoyed golfing at Northwinds Country Club. At Gusâs request there will be no public viewing or service.
