Szczur, John J. “Buckeye”, 92, of Geistown. Died Nov. 7, 2015, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born July 5, 1923, in Johnstown. Son of the late John and Angeline (Golojuch) Szczur. Preceded in death by wife of 61 years, Angeline Theresa (Lech); siblings Stanley, Lottie Slisz, Mary Ann Paruch, and Joseph “Butch” Steur. Survived by children; Timothy John, Ft. Myers Beach, FL; Joseph John, husband of Lisa (Miller), Richland; John Joseph, husband of Denise (Kuczinski), Rockville, MD; Maria Claire Szczur, Mechanicsburg, PA; Kathleen Marie, wife of Otho C. Bell, Pittsburgh; and Constance Ann, wife of Robert John Ramseth, Silver Spring, MD. Grandchildren; Erik Robert (Danielle) and John Robert Ramseth, Joshua James, Bryan John and Katelyn Jo Szczur, Nicholas Casimir and Christopher Michael Szczur and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Brother of Walter, Johnstown; and Anthony, Norristown, PA. Graduate of Johnstown High School and University of Pittsburgh. Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII flying in the B 24 Bomber. Retired Draftsman from the Roll Shop, Johnstown Plant, Bethlehem Steel Corp. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown; POW of Western PA; American Legion and Msgr. Fitzgibbon Chapter, K of C.  Buckeye enjoyed his family, boating and Pittsburgh “Black and Gold” and Pitt Sports. Friends received 6-8 PM Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at St. Benedict Church. Fr. David S. Peles, pastor. Committal at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, Geistown, with military rites by Conemaugh Valley Detachment, Marine Corps League.
