He is survived by his loving children, Reyneann Mazzarese and her fiancé, Walter Blasco, Loyalhanna, PA, James J. Mazzarese, Annandale, VA, and Karen Ann Mazzarese, and special friend, Jeffrey Emery, Hollidaysburg, PA; grandchildren, Kelsie Leah Licatovich and John James Cram; great granddaughter, Marilyn Rae Cram; brothers, Jack, and his special friend, Judy, both of Johnstown and Angelo, Johnstown; loving companion, Sylvia Pisarczyk, Johnstown and numerous nieces and nephews. Mazz was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was co-owner of the former Johnny and Steve’s Barber Shop, which also sponsored a little league baseball team in Moxham for many years. Mazz was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and V.F.W. Post #208, Geistown. He was incredible at shooting pool and helped win many championships for his league. Mazz very much enjoyed life, music, dancing and attending all the Johnstown Festivals. He will be remembered for being a true and honorable man and had a charitable personality with a fantastic smile, but most of all he dearly loved his family, especially his new love of his great-granddaughter, Marilyn, and friends. He was a great story teller, always teaching his family valuable lessons in life. And a wonderful cook too making the best mint burgers. Friends will be received from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at St. Anthony Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to either St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 or to a charity of one’s choice in memory of John.
