Martella, John C., 87, of Richland. Died July 16, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. Born July 12, 1930, in New Castle, PA Son of the late John C. and Sarah Kathleen (Watterson) Martella. Also preceded in death by wife, Rose Marie (Metz); son Joseph R.; brother, Joseph and sister, Rosemary McGregor. Survived by children, John III, married to Debra (Beck); Michael S. married to Stephanie; and Maria, wife of Pete Gerula. Grandchildren; Matthew, Caitlin, Nicole, Natalie, Cole and Lauren. A 1948 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving as a medic making 20 trips across the Atlantic. Formerly employed at Met Life for 20 years and founded a family business “The Alibi Restaurant & Lounge” in 1984. Member of the Knights of Columbus, Windber Country Club, and Elks. John was an avid golfer and proud of his 3 holes in one. He acquired many close friends and acquaintances throughout his career. As Frank Sinatra said “ John did it his way”. Friends received from 2-8 PM Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where wake service will be held. Funeral Mass at 10 AM Thursday at St. Clement Catholic Church. Fr. William E. Rosenbaum, Pastor. Committal at Grandview Cemetery with military rites by Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287, Marine Corps League. Family suggests donations to St. Clement Catholic Church, 114 Lindberg Ave. Johnstown, PA 15905 or Palliative Care Unit at Memorial Medical Center, 1086 Franklin St. Johnstown, PA 15905 in memory of John C.
